Not able to take your ACT test when you originally planned? While a refund is not in your future, the ACT test provides many different opportunities during the school year to take the ACT test when it is most convenient for you. Even if ACT has to cancel the test, you can test at your original cost.
Life happens, and when it does, you may need to make a change in your plans. If you were scheduled to take your ACT test, the test that helps determine if you are the right for fit for a college or university, and you are unable to do so at your scheduled time, there are things that you can do.
Can You Cancel an ACT Test?
Is it possible to cancel and ACT test and receive an ACT refund? Unfortunately, if you are unable to take the ACT test at your scheduled time, you cannot receive an ACT refund. Also, if there is a need to cancel the ACT test due to acts of nature or unforeseen circumstances at the ACT testing site, an ACT refund will not be issued.
While ACT refunds will not be provided at any time, a student can always reschedule. If the test site needs to cancel the ACT test, the test site will notify students as soon as possible through the mail or the email address the student provided. Students are then permitted to sign up for any new test date or testing site that meets their scheduling needs.
If a student needs to cancel, they can contact ACT Student Services Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. central time at 319-337-1270. At this number, a student will receive the most up-to-date information on new ACT test dates and testing sites.
ACT test dates are scheduled multiple times during the school year. You shouldn’t worry if you need to reschedule because you will have multiple opportunities for new ACT test dates.
What Is the ACT Cost of the Test?
The base cost of the ACT is $50.50. The act price can be more if you decide to add the writing the test as a part of your ACT test. The total cost for the ACT test is now $67.00. The good news about this pricing is that should you decide that after you have added the writing portion that you no longer want to take it, you can receive a refund. You will simply need to request a refund for the writing test. It must be done in writing and ahead of when you intended to take the test.
Additional ACT test fees will be required if you need more than the four colleges notified of your test scores or if you need to change the location of where you need to test on your original test date. It is important to note there are additional ACT test fees should you need to select a new test date as the date you had originally planned to test on, you’re no longer able to do so.
The ACT organization will also charge additional ACT test fees should you need to register over the phone instead of online and if you would like to receive a copy of your tests and answers.
Lastly, please play close attention when deciding to register for the ACT test as ACT does charge a late registration fee as well.
Not being able to receive a refund for the cancellation of an ACT test is hard, but with plenty of planning there are many opportunities to take your ACT at another time that is more convenient to you.
