SMART transcripts are academic transcripts used to validate the military experience and training of Navy and Marine service members. The American Council on Education provides college credit recommendations based on the training and experience received. SMART stands for the Sailor/Marine American Council on Education Registry Transcript. This transcript is available to every current and former Navy and Marine service member. The Navy provides a website for requesting unofficial and official SMART transcripts.
Register for the SMART website by navigating in your Internet browser to "https://smart.navy.mil/smart/registration.do" and entering the required information. An email will be sent to you with instructions to activate an account and view SMART transcript information.
Follow the instructions in the registration email and log into the SMART site. Choose a permanent login password the first time you log into the site.
Click on the "Transcript" link at the top of the page to go to the transcript page. Choose a link to view an unofficial transcript, view a summary of a transcript, or download an official SMART transcript request form.
Select the "View Transcript" or "Combo" link to view your unofficial transcript. The "Combo" link provides a more detailed view of the transcript. View or print the transcript from this page.
- Some service members may have access to a Common Access Card and reader. If so, skip the registration steps and navigate to "https://smart.navy.mil/smart/swim/sso.do." Use the card and reader to verify your identity and proceed to Step 3 above.
