In Tantric philosophy, the chakras are seven centers in the body where energy can enter or depart. Chakras can affect a person's physical, emotional and mental health, both positively and negatively. To heal the chakras, healers often recommend certain yoga poses, essential oils or particular foods. Another healing technique involves placing healing stones over the chakras.

Each Stone Has a Purpose

The seven chakras are arranged in a line, in the order of the colors of the rainbow. The first chakra, located at the base of the spine, is related to basic needs and to a sense of belonging. Its color is red. The chakra above it is orange, then yellow, and so on. To heal a particular chakra, healers might recommend placing a stone of the same color over that area. Certified crystal healer Bethany A. Ingraham suggests using a red garnet over the first chakra to inspire self-love and foster a sense of grounding; and a green aventurine over the heart chakra to focus on growth and abundance. Other stones include smoky quartz, amber, tourmaline, turquoise and amethyst.
