The Internet age created a whole new lexicon that is inherently linked to the rapid pace of communication. This new lexicon encompassed acronyms like the ubiquitous LOL, meaning laughing out loud, as well as emoticons. Emoticons use a group of symbols to create an abstract face. You can use emoticons to create a wide range of emotions and add a playful tone to your informal emails.
Hit shift and the colon button simultaneously to create a semi-colon to represent the winking eye portion of your face.
Add a nose to your emoticon. You can either use a hyphen for a simple nose or a question mark for a larger nose.
Add a mouth to your winking emoticon by typing a right parentheses.
