Harold Washington College
Harold Washington College (HWC) was founded in 1962, and was originally called Loop Junior College. The school has gone through major structural changes and a $29.5 million renovation. It is now one of seven city colleges in Chicago. While HWC offers associate degree programs, there are numerous certificate programs available, such as child development. Adult education programs are also offered at HWC, including Literacy-Adult Basic Education (ABE), General Educational Development (GED) and English as a second language.On-line courses are also available.

The Truman College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (HLC-NCA). This college was founded in 1956 as an "evening college." Today, Truman has one of the oldest, most successful two-year nursing programs in Illinois. It is also the only college in the state to have a two-year biotechnology program. The academic programs include two-year associate degree programs, career certificates, adult education and continuing education programs. Tuition and fees are determined by where you live.

Kennedy King College
Kennedy-King College (KKC) is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Situated on 18 acres of land, KKC has a swimming pool, two gymnasiums, and a daycare center. Their facilities also include a theater, a television studio, and radio station WKKC FM. The school offers transfer programs for individual interested in pursuing a baccalaureate degree at four-year college or university. It offers career programs, associate degree programs, and adult education programs.
