Continuing education for daycare providers is a benefit to the teachers as well as the children. There are several online opportunities for free classes. The free classes don't give a certificate of completion for the class but for a small fee a certificate is provided. The courses range from daycare safety to creating a positive learning environment for the children.
Extension Online Training
Extension Online Training offers many courses for daycare providers to brush up on skills or obtain new skills. The classes available are free but if a certification is desired then there is a small fee for certain classes. Daycare providers can join the website as a group or as individuals and complete the classes. Classes that are used to fulfill state-mandated training requirements require completion of the exam at the end of the training.
Education-Portal offers free online childcare training via the Internet. The classes offered will count for the state-mandated training requirements for specific states. When you sign up for the courses remember to check that your state will accept the courses. Classes are conducted by teachers through narrative lectures, slide presentations, video clips and interactive exercises. The classes do require a high-speed Internet connection.
Idaho Stars offers free classes for daycare providers and parents. Idaho Stars includes certificates of completion of the courses at no charge. No registration is required to take a class. Upon completion of the course, send an email to the instructors, and the certificate will be sent in response to the email. Visit the website occasionally to view updated course offerings.
