The Foot Locker scholarship is awarded to 20 athletes annually. Each winner of the award receives $20,000 to apply toward college tuition and fees.
Eligibility for the Foot Locker Scholarship
Before applying, make sure you meet all of the criteria to be eligible for this profitable subsidy. Candidates must have the following benchmarks:
- A minimum grade point average of 3.0.
- Currently involved in a high school sport, intramural sport or a community based sport.
- Attending college in the fall as a freshman at an accredited four-year school for an undergraduate degree.
- Is a United States citizen or permanent legal resident.
- Applicants may not be an employee or otherwise related to Foot Locker, Inc. or any of its subsidiaries.

Gather your transcripts and test scores, such as the SAT or ACT, and then get ready to go deep with a moving essay. Write a genuine essay on how you have positively affected your community, your academic goals and how athletics has shaped your life for the better.
To win this lucrative Foot Locker scholarship, candidates must show how what they have learned on the court or in the field has helped them be a better person. Applicants must show examples of good sportsmanship along with strong leadership skills and moral character.
How to Apply
Applications are accepted beginning in September, and the 20 winners are announced in May each year.
A handful of select candidates will be interviewed via video chat before the final selection in May. The judges are looking for personality and charisma in the athletes as well as confidence and leadership.
Log in to the Foot Locker Scholar Athletes website to begin your application process. It may take some time so be prepared with all of your necessary information before applying. This should include report cards, valid driver’s license, passport or state identification card, any relevant awards or letters of recommendation and college exam scores.
Ken C. Hicks Scholarship
For a truly outstanding scholarship winner, Foot Locker has more in store. This champs scholarship is named after the former Chairman and CEO of Foot Locker. It was created to honor Ken C. Hicks’ deep commitment to academic excellence in athletes.
This champs scholarship is awarded to one of the 20 high school students that is selected for the Foot Locker Scholar Athletes program. Of the 20 selected, one exceptional individual will receive an additional $5,000 for demonstrating superior education achievement along with outstanding leadership and a passion for their sport of choice. This brings the student’s total scholarship funds to $25,000.
