The SAT test is a standardized test used for students who are completing high school and wish to gain admission to college. While it is not the only standardized test available, it is widely recognized and accepted by most institutions of higher learning. The test measures skills in critical reading, writing and mathematics, and it enables colleges and universities to compare students who are coming from different states or countries.
Calculating the Score
Your overall SAT score is a combination of the three subject tests included on the initial exam. Reading, Writing, and Math each have a possible high score of 800, which means that the perfect SAT score is 2400.
If a student scored 450 on math, 550 on reading, and 500 on writing, that student's score would be: 450 + 550 + 500 = 1500
A student who scores 700 on math, 650 on reading, and 700 on writing would have a score of: 700 + 650 + 700 = 2050
Some colleges will add only the reading and math scores, so in that case, the highest possible score would be 1600.
