A variety of technical colleges and occupational programs offer courses that do not require a high school diploma. These programs offer training in an assortment of fields, such as computer repair, and engineering and design. In addition to the technical courses offered, many of these programs offer assistance in obtaining your high-school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
Southwest Georgia Technical College
Located in North Thomasville, Georgia, Southwest Georgia Technical College offers a variety of technical courses that do not require a high-school diploma for enrollment. While associate degree programs do require proof of a high-school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), several of the school's certificate programs require only that the student be able to successfully pass a general knowledge exam to enroll. Available courses include agricultural technician, air-conditioning system maintenance technician, automotive technician and arc welder fabrication. Depending on the course selected, applicants may be required to obtain their high-school diplomas or GEDs prior to graduation; however, this is not a requirement for every course.
Yolo County Office of Education
Located in Woodland, California, the Yolo County Office of Education offers an array of occupational and technical education programs that do not require a high-school diploma to participate. Students may select from such courses as energy technology, child development, agriculture, tourism or health sciences, fashion and interior design, and medical technology. Most courses can be completed in nine months. Some courses provide additional credits that can be applied toward obtaining a high-school education or GED.
Middle Georgia Technical College
Middle Georgia Technical College is located in the city of Warner Robins and is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges. The school offers several technical courses that do not require a high-school diploma as a prerequisite, but students must take an independently administered entry exam to demonstrate general academic abilities. Available courses include certificate programs in aviation maintenance technology, welding, air conditioning repair and drafting. Depending on course selection, applicants may be required to obtain a high-school diploma or GED prior to graduation, but this is not required for every course.
Wake Tech Community College
Located in Raleigh, North Carolina, Wake Tech Community College offers a variety of programs that require no high-school degree. Available courses include certificate programs in computer technology, automotive detailing and human resources development. Wake Tech Community College offers programs that can be completed in a traditional classroom setting or online, full or part time. Job placement assistance is available and tuition assistance is possible for students who meet qualifying economic criteria.
