When most people think about Ancient Greece, they picture magnificent temples with stone columns surrounding them. Because of this, a Greek temple model is a wonderful way to teach children about Ancient Greece. With a few basic crafting supplies, any child can make his own Greek temple model out of Popsicle sticks. Younger children may need adult supervision with this craft. However, older children may take it another step further and personalize the temple with paint or other craft items.
Cut out a flat piece of styrofoam about six inches square and lay it on a table.
Insert the ends of 6 Popsicle sticks into one of the corners of the styrofoam, arranging them in a circular formation. Make sure there are no gaps between the Popsicle sticks, so that it looks like a column.
Create Popsicle stick columns all around the edges of the styrofoam square, spacing the columns two inches apart from each other.
Cut out two triangles of styrofoam that are each six inches wide at the base and three inches tall in the middle.
Glue these styrofoam triangles onto the top of the Popsicle stick columns on opposite sides, forming the front and back of the temple.
