If you've been to college, have teaching experience and are a bit of an entrepreneur, you have what it takes to teach the ACTs. Kaplan Inc. is the company that administers the test and formally hires its instructors. While there's no certification, there is a hiring process. Although Kaplan prefers certain qualities, it is highly recommended to train in these areas prior to applying for an ACT Prep Tutor.

Step 1

Study and familiarize yourself with the ACT. If you haven't taken the test, you must do so. In order to teach the ACT test you must score in at least the 90th percentile.

Step 2

Graduate college with either a BA or BS. It's not necessary, but having one of these degrees is strongly preferred.

Step 3

Obtain experience teaching or tutoring. It is a preferred quality.

Step 4

Apply to be an ACT instructor at Kaplan.com
