The Lone Star College System
The Lone Star College System is a collection of eight community colleges and one university in the Dallas/Ft Worth area of Texas. All LSCS colleges are accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. LSCS offers an RN program, with an accelerated curriculum track for paramedics (and other medical professionals), at four campus locations: Kingwood, Montgomery, North Harris and Tomball.
Some of the classes in the curriculum include concepts of nursing practice for articulating students, advanced nursing skills, integrated client care management, nursing jurisprudence and role transition for articulating students. This is a 60 credit, six semester program that takes one to two years to complete, depending on prior education. Graduates will qualify to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) to become licensed registered nurses. Applicants are required to have current National Registry EMT Paramedic Certification, current Texas Department of Health EMT Paramedic Certification or current Texas Department of Health Paramedic Licensure.

Trinity Valley Community College
Trinity Valley Community College is a public community college with a campus location in Kaufman, Texas just south of Dallas, Texas. TVCC offers a fully accredited RN program with a paramedic to RN transition option at the health sciences campus in Kaufman.
According to the school website, this program is designed to validate and update previous experiences and education of licensed or certified paramedics. Paramedics accepted into the program will be required to take two nursing transition classes. Once the nursing transition courses are completed, students will enter the second year of the associate degree nursing program. Some of the coursework includes concepts of nursing practice for articulating students, integrated care of the client with complex health care needs, transition to nursing practice and a number of labs and clinical classes.
Graduates will be awarded an associate degree in nursing and will be able to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) to become licensed registered nurses.
