Getting into college can be a competitive process. Some schools have acceptance rates in the single digits, such as Harvard University in Cambridge Massachusetts with an acceptance rate of only 7.5 percent in 2010. Fortunately, not all colleges are that difficult to get into, even if you want to attend school in Florida.

Beacon College

Beacon College is located in Leesburg, Florida and has an acceptance rate of 92 percent of applicants in 2010. It is specially designed for individuals with learning disabilities or ADHD. It was founded in 1989 and costs $28,410 for tuition and fees each year and has 128 students enrolled as of 2011. The total campus size is five acres. The majors available are in computer information systems, human services and liberal studies.

Johnson & Wales University

Johnson & Wales University was founded in 1914 and is a non-profit school in Miami. The enrollment is over 2,000 with the highest number of students enrolled in the business, culinary arts and hospitality programs. There are 31 different study-abroad programs. The acceptance rate among applicants is 85.5 percent. Tuition is $23,995 for all students along with a general fee of $1,152 as of 2011. Financial aid is available through both grants and loans for all students by filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Florida Institute of Technology

The Florida Institute of Technology was founded in 1958 and is located in Melbourne on a 130 acre campus on the east coast near Kennedy Space Center. As of 2011, the cost of attendance ranges from $28,910 to $31,734 depending on the major selected. Programs of study include science, engineering, business, humanities, mathematics, communicate and education and aeronautics with Bachelor degrees. They also offer both Master's and Doctoral degree programs. In 2010 there were 3,587 students enrolled in the main campus, 1,252 in the extended campus and 4,146 students online. The acceptance rate is 82.9 percent.

Florida Southern College

Florida Southern College was founded in 1883 and is known for its professional programs in business, nursing, education, dentistry, law and pharmacy. Florida Southern enrolls 2,185 undergraduate students and 134 graduate students. The faculty to staff ratio is 13 to1 and the tuition and fees total $24,662 for all students as of 2011. The overall acceptance rate is 75.3 percent. Financial aid is available and over $14 million is awarded annually to students just in scholarships. Ninety-six percent of students receive some sort of financial aid annually.

Florida Gulf Coast University

Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Meyers has an acceptance rate of 73 percent. It enrolled 10,221 students in 2008. Available areas of study are offered through the the college of arts and sciences, college of education, health professions, nursing, health and rehabilitation, professional studies and the engineering school. It costs $4,945 for in-state residents and $20,204 for non-resident students in tuition and fees each year as of 2011.
