The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) is the government agency in charge of the accreditation of colleges and universities in the Philippines. It releases a yearly list of the top-performing schools in the country based on schools’ national passing rate at the licensing examinations administered by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

It offers a two-year preparatory course known as the associate in health science education, which provides a certificate in health science education upon completion. The bachelor of science in nursing is a four-year program adopting the common two-year program associate in health science education in its first two years. The College of Nursing of St. Paul University Dumaguete (SPUD) has an institutional accreditation from CHED and the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU).
