California State University, Fullerton, a public research university in Fullerton, California, is one of the top 225 institutions of higher education in the United States. In 1957, the school started as Orange County State College thanks to the state legislature. In 1972, it was renamed as California State University, Fullerton. Today, the school sits on more than 200 acres of land. Its motto is “Vox Veritas Vita” or “Voice, Truth, Life.” Notable alumni include actor Kevin Costner, basketball player Bruce Bowen, singer Gwen Stefani, basketball player Cedric Ceballos, United States Representative Ed Royce, car racer Ashley Force Hood, TV writer Marc Cherry, actress Kirsten Vangsness, baseball player Gabe Kapler and football player Mark Collins. The school’s colors are navy blue, white and orange, its mascot is Tuffy the Titan and its teams are nicknamed the Titans. Its sports affiliation is NCAA Division I – Big West, and there are 16 varsity teams at the school. Varsity sports offered by California State University, Fullerton include men’s cross country, baseball, basketball, golf, soccer and indoor and outdoor track and field, and women’s basketball, soccer, softball, tennis, golf, tennis, volleyball and indoor and outdoor track and field.
